Finding the Right Rail Box

In addition to tool totes and trailer tongue boxes, rail boxes are also among the special types of pickup truck tool boxes.
Rail boxes are customized to fit a selection of vehicles and come in a variety of dimensions, from around 50 to 70 inches. A rail box for full size trucks, the "rail topper" is often used in pairs. The unit sits on top of the rail, hanging down into the truck bed. The full-size truck rail box can work with a crossover toolbox, and may also come in a black or white powdercoat.
The topsider rail box is seated securely on the rail, anchored by legs to the bed of the pickup truck’s floor. Topsiders come in a variety of dimensions to fit single or double doors, ranging from about 50 to 95 inches. Their doors open in a downward direction, which creates a chain-supported shelf. Topsider rail boxes may also come in black or white powdercoat finishes, depending on your preference.
As with any truck tool boxes you choose, be sure to check that your rail box comes with a standard warranty issued by the manufacturer, to ensure the product is free from defects in both material and workmanship.
