Earning Respect And Keeping it Online

The proliferation of information has made it a great time to be a consumer. The information access we possess is greater than any generation before us, and is only getting better. The advent of search technology compatible with portable devices allows us to search wherever we may be. On more than one occasion I have been out of town and consulted my Blackberry for advice on where to eat. Being an out-of-towner, I often rely on customer reviews online to dictate where my next meal will be. This system rarely fails. This makes me wonder how much business is lost by those restaurants I come across with poor ratings. They clearly are not aware of their negative online reputation they have accumulated from previous customers. Perhaps if they were aware of the practice of online reputation management they’d be able to find out from their customers what needs to be improved and get those ratings up to respectability.
