I Love Powerpoint – and Hate it at the Same Time
By RP on Feb 14, 2008 in Technology
Let me make this clear. I actually love Powerpoint. It’s a great program. It allows you to things that few if any other programs allow you to do. To top it all of, it is very well integrated into the Office interface, making it easy to transfer my work back and forth between programs whenever I have a project that crosses multiple boundaries (always). Powerpoint designer I am not though and that means I spend a great deal of time trying to wade through Powerpoint tips and Powerpoint templates on obscure websites that will give you these kinds of things for free.
Fast forward a few minutes and I start to get just a bit frustrated. I start to tap my finger on the desk rapidly and ask questions of the coworker across from me to distract from the fact that I still don’t know what I’m doing and I’m starting to get rather frustrated because of it. Fast forward another few minutes and my boss is asking where the project is and why I’m not done…it’s hard to just say – hey, Powerpoint is hard, because he probably has it down. Then I sigh and use one of the same old templates I always use. Sure, I’ll get a bit of a stare for lacking ingenuity, but this stuff is too hard sometimes to think outside the box. I just don’t have the time.
