Japanese Water Gardens

I have always admired the Japanese water gardens, with the big beautiful lily floating on the surface and a gentle waterfall trickling nearby.  However, we never had the time to construct one before.  Fortunately, we recently began working from home with a part-time schedule. Now that we spend more time at home I put the water garden back on the list of things to do, but we really didn’t know where to start.

After I started looking at everything we needed, I had to decide if we really wanted to do it our selves or if we wanted to hire a professional.  There are pumps, floats, pipe, and a flow meter required to monitor how the arrangement is operating.  I knew I could get most of the items at our local building supply, but where does someone buy an instrument that monitors water flow measurement?  I didn’t have to look far before I found them on-line.  Everything I needed was not only easy to find on the internet but also not as expensive.

My favorite part was filling it with the beautiful landscape and watching everything settle in.  Now we take breaks by sitting out back and enjoying the serenity of our Japanese water garden.  Although I enjoyed building it myself, if I had it to do over again, I might have consulted with an expert who knows more about things like a mass flow meter or blanketweed.
